Our Story

Indigenous Guatemalan women are more than twice as likely to die from pregnancy related deaths than non-indigenous women.
The maternal mortality rate in Guatemala is 95 in 100,000 live births. This is three times higher than the U.S. maternal mortality rate and more than thirty times higher than Israel, Japan, Spain and Italy.
Up to 9/10 maternal deaths are preventable with timely access to evidence-based maternal care.
Casa Materna implements evidence-based, high-yield, low-cost interventions to help identify  high-risk patients.
